Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-18
This Privacy Policy explains how JIM RIVERA LLC d/b/a Owaza Martial Arts ("Owaza", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the Owaza website and the Owaza school-management platform, including its administrative tools.
Who this policy covers
Owaza is a management platform for martial-arts schools. We handle information about three groups: visitors to our website, students and their parents/guardians who use the member portal, and school administrators who use the administrative tools.
Information we collect
- Account information — names, email addresses, and contact details provided when an account is created.
- Student records — enrollment, attendance, progress, and program information entered by schools and members.
- Usage information — log data, device and browser information, and pages visited, used to operate and secure the platform.
- Social media connection data — see the section below.
Social media integration (Facebook and Instagram)
The Owaza administrative tools include a Social Media Manager that lets a school administrator connect the school's own Facebook Page and linked Instagram professional account in order to publish and review the school's marketing content. When an administrator connects an account, we collect and process:
- Page access tokens issued by Meta, used to publish content to and read content from the school's own Page and Instagram account.
- The list of Pages the connecting administrator manages, so the administrator can select the school's Page.
- Posts and engagement data from the school's own Page — post content, comments, reaction/comment/share counts, and basic reach and impression metrics — displayed back to the administrator.
This data is used solely to provide the Social Media Manager features to the school. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. Access tokens are stored securely and are used only to act on the school's own connected accounts.
How we use information
- To operate, maintain, and secure the platform and its administrative tools.
- To provide the features each user group relies on, including school management and the Social Media Manager.
- To communicate with users about their accounts and the service.
- To comply with legal obligations.
How we share information
We share information only as needed to operate the service: with infrastructure and service providers that host and support the platform under confidentiality obligations, and where required by law. We do not sell personal information.
Data retention
We retain information for as long as an account is active or as needed to provide the service, and thereafter only as required to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations. Social media access tokens are removed when an administrator disconnects the associated account.
Your choices and rights
School administrators may disconnect a connected Facebook or Instagram account at any time from the Social Media Manager's Platform Settings, which removes the stored access token. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, see our Data Deletion Instructions or contact us using the details below.
Children's privacy
Owaza serves martial-arts schools whose students may be minors. Student information is provided and managed by schools and by parents/guardians. Our practices regarding student safety and minors are described in our Safety and Privacy page, which complements this policy.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted transport, access controls, and secure storage of credentials and access tokens.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
